did you know that neptune was the first planet to be discovered solely through maths? it was discovered in 1846 by Urbain Le Verrier and John Couch Adams, two astronomers who noticed abnormalities in urano's orbit. because of this they assumed there must be some planet orbiting near it that is affecting urano's orbit and gravitational pull. they estimated its size, mass and orbit. a few years later, neptune was observed for the first time with a telescope and that's when its existence became fully official.
